INGREDIENTS
1. 1 tbsp oil
2. ¼ tsp mustard seeds
3. 3 tomatoes, chopped
4. 1 onion, chopped
5. 3 cloves garlic (lehsun)
6. ½ tsp hing (asafoetida)
7. 2 whole dry red chili
8. 1 sprig of curry leaves (kadi patta)
9. 1 tbsp urad dal
10. 1 tbsp peanuts
11. salt to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat a non-stick pan and add oil.Add the mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds begin to splutter add in thepeanuts, urad dal, hing, curry leaves, whole red chili, garlic and saute for 30 seconds.Now add the onion and fry till translucent.Add the tomato and cook till the tomato is tender. Mix in the salt to taste.Turn off the flame and allow this mixture to cool.Now tranfer this cooked onion tomato masala to the mixer/grinder and blend coarsely.
